Welcome to the University of Ottawa Women in Engineering Research Group (UOWERG)

The University of Ottawa Women in Engineering Research Group, UOWERG, focuses on the experiences of women engineering students in four Canadian universities.

The objective of the project is to learn about the perspectives of women engineering students in Canada with respect to the culture of their university, their views of the concept of social relevance, their choice of engineering sub-discipline and how these factors influence their choices to remain or withdraw from their program. The study will scrutinize the meaning of social relevance and the impact of reforms aimed at establishing connections between engineering education and the needs of society, from the perspectives of the four universities and their participants.
