Biography
Ann Denis is a full professor in sociology at the University of Ottawa, and has been both Visiting Researcher and Visiting Professor at the Centre for Gender and Development Studies on campuses of the University of the West Indies during sabbaticals. She is Vice President for Research of the International Sociological Association (2002-2006).
Her current research interests include the intersection of gender, class and ethnicity/race; uses of the Internet; the retention of women in engineering programmes at university; women’s paid and unpaid work in the Commonwealth Caribbean and Canada and the effects of globalization on it. Recent publications include Femmes de carrière; Carrières de femmes (co-authored) and articles on the use of the Internet by women and by students, feminism’s challenges to development, women and globalization in the Commonwealth Caribbean and in Canada, women’s work in the Commonwealth Caribbean. |
