Les cours suivants sont offerts dans le cadre du Programme d’études juives canadiennes Vered. Ils s’intègrent à la mineure en études juives canadiennes ou à d’autres programmes d’études.
À moins d’avis contraire, tous les cours sont ouverts aux étudiants de l’Université et aux membres de la communauté élargie. Ces derniers peuvent s’inscrire en tant qu’étudiants spéciaux à fin d’obtenir des crédits, ou en tant qu’auditeurs. Les auditeurs n’obtiennent aucun crédit et ne peuvent se présenter aux examens ou soumettre des travaux.

Introduction to the interdisciplinary study of the Jewish experience in Canada, including discussion of scholarship in history, sociology, culture, literature and other areas.

Focus on the major Jewish-Canadian writers of the past seventy-five years: A.M. Klein, Irving Layton, Miriam Waddington, Adele Wiseman, Mordecai Richler, Leonard Cohen and others, as well as work in translation by Yiddish-Canadian writers.

Sujet : Canadian Responses to the Holocaust
Discussion of the multifaceted Canadian responses to the Nazi Holocaust. Topics will include: antisemitism; government policies; community activism; literature and the arts; Holocaust survivors; Nazi war criminals; Holocaust denial; the evolution of public memory; and memorialization and Holocaust education.

Study of topics including immigration, ethnic integration, economic mobility, religious and secular bases of Jewish identity, communal structure, family, gender, sexualities and comparison with other ethnic groups.

A study of the beliefs, commandments, rites and traditions that form the Jewish religion.
YDD1901 : Introduction to Yiddish Language and Culture I (3 crédits)
A beginner’s study of the Yiddish language focused on the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills in combination with a cultural component. Ce cours n’est pas ouvert aux auditeurs.
