Institute for Science, Society and Policy
The Institute for Science, Society and Policy aims to be Canada's transdisciplinary leader in addressing the social impact of science and technology innovation through cutting-edge research, teaching and knowledge transfer. In the process, it will also be a major contributor to international discourse on the policy alternatives for managing the interplay of science, technology and society.
One of the Institute's primary academic features will be a new interdisciplinary PhD program that supports teaching and research in the ethical, legal, management and policy issues arising from advances in science and technology.
In addition, the University's proximity and access to decision makers in government, non-government organizations and the private sector gives the Institute a strategic advantage in helping shape science- and technology-related social policy in Canada.
All of these strengths will combine to make the Institute a geographical and virtual hub that connects researchers across Canada and around the world and gives them a broad forum in which to share their findings.
