Financial aid and graduate admission scholarships at the Faculty of Arts

Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents

Master's with thesis (2 years)

Since September 2006, the Faculty of Arts has had a minimum funding policy that guarantees at least $16,500 for each two years of study in a Master's program with thesis to all new eligible students.

The admission scholarship will be awarded on the recommendation of the academic unit to any new student who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, whose admission average is 8,0/10 or more, and who registers full-time, and remains a full-time student for the duration of the scholarship (6 consecutive sessions). Students must maintain an average of 8,0/10 during their studies to continue access to the scholarship.

This financial support includes:

  • tuition fees for two years;
  • assistantships or equivalent worth $9,500 per year for two years;
  • a scholarship of $2,000 over a two-year period.

Non professional MA program with research paper (1 year)

Since September 2006, the Faculty of Arts has had a minimum funding policy that guarantees at least $18,000 for one year of study in a Master's program with research paper to all new eligible students.

The admission scholarship will be awarded on the recommendation of the academic unit to any student who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, whose admission average is 8,0/10 or more, and who registers full-time, and remains a full-time student for the duration of the scholarship (3 consecutive sessions). Students must maintain an average of 8,0/10 during their studies to continue access to the scholarship.

This financial support includes:

  • tuition fees for one year;
  • assistantships or equivalent worth $9,500 for one year;
  • a scholarship of $2,000.

Doctorate

Since September 2006, the Faculty of Arts had had a minimum funding policy that guarantees funding of at least $18,000 for each of four years of doctoral study to all new doctoral students meeting the requirements described below. A fifth year of funding is available under certain conditions.

The admission scholarship will be awarded automatically to any student whose admission average is 8,0/10 or more and who registers full-time and remains a full-time student for the duration of the scholarship (12 or 15 consecutive sessions). Students must maintain an average of 8,0/10 during their studies to continue access to the scholarship.

This financial support includes:

  • tuition fees for four years or tuition fees for five years if the student has received at least three years of competitive external scholarships;
  • assistantships or equivalent worth $9,500 a year for four years;
  • a scholarship of $2,500 a year for four years.
